Level 3 Economics (3ECO)
Subject Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs C. Hendrickse, Mr E. Brown.
At this level students study the role of the market in the economy and how that role can be modified by the government. Students will gain an understanding that markets can provide the most efficient outcome but also that it may be appropriate for government to override markets to deliver more efficient or more equitable outcomes. Government intervention may involve a trade-off between efficiency and equity.
Economics remains and important subject for any student looking at studying management, commerce at tertiary level and/or a possible career in law and politics.
