Year 10 Design Technology

Design Technology is our hard materials technology subject. Students engage in technological practice, which encourages risk taking and development of unique outcomes to address a need or opportunity. Ideas are expressed through drawing, modelling and prototyping, which are then made in our workshop. Students will usually have 3-4 design projects covering small to medium scale products such as wooden treasure boxes and jewelry made from plastics or metal eg pewter and copper. Essential knowledge about tools, equipment, properties of materials and their suitability for their project are taught in a way to encourage confidence and creativity. This subject is suitable to all students, especially those interested in creative design and manufacture.
